Vernon is a town in US state of Connecticut. It is found in Tolland County and Hartford metropolitan area. This town is known as a peaceful residential area with businesses, tourist centers, institutes for learning and many more. 

Like many areas in the New England region of the United State, Vernon also was influenced by European settlers. The history of this town started in the early 19th century when it was established from an area called Bolton. It was then incorporated as a town on October 1808. This town was named after George Washington's estate called Mount Vernon Estate. Within the town was Rockville and area that soon grew into a city. This area was incorporated in 1889. Vernon and Rockville experienced respective growth and development in both their population and economy and as at the mid 20th century, the decision to consolidate the two areas came. On July 1, 1965, the town Vernon and city of Rockville were officially consolidated to form what is now known as the town of Vernon. Today, Vernon also has smaller villages within it like Talcottville and Dobsonville.
